Choose the decision before the label
A construction sequence animation explains an approved order of work. It can show stages without assigning real dates to every component. A schedule-linked 4D model adds a time relationship between geometry and construction tasks. Decide whether the audience needs a clear method presentation or a planning model that follows the programme.
What makes a model 4D
Autodesk’s TimeLiner documentation describes connecting model objects to tasks in an external construction schedule and simulating that relationship. The schedule connection is the extra dimension. A cinematic film of a building appearing in stages is not, by itself, evidence that this task-to-model relationship was created or checked.
When a staged film is the useful scope
A bid panel, owner meeting or installation overview may need to understand the main phases and the project approach. Supply the approved stage list, model revision, temporary elements and context. The planner reviews the order and assumptions. Labels identify phases clearly; any dates used only for illustration are identified as such.
When schedule-linked inputs matter
If the presentation must represent actual start and finish dates, overlapping activities or changes to the programme, provide the approved schedule and component-to-task mapping. State the source tool, model revision and responsible planner. If an approved 4D export already exists, we first check its format and what presentation work can be added while retaining the approved sequence.
Separate communication from planning approval
HeartlandSI can scope a film of your approved construction sequence. Programme authorship, constructability review, temporary works design, lifting checks and clash detection are responsibilities that must be contracted and reviewed explicitly. A polished film does not certify that the method is safe, coordinated or feasible.
Prepare an estimate that matches the work
Send the intended audience, method or stage list, available model format, number of phases, site context, deadline and review owner. Add schedule inputs if a time-linked result is required. Define the outputs: a presentation master, stage stills, captioned version or shorter cut. We confirm source readiness, review stages, price and delivery plan before production.
Reference workflow
Read Autodesk’s TimeLiner overview for the documented model-to-schedule workflow. This reference explains the technical distinction; it does not imply an Autodesk partnership or a software licence held for your project.
